Starport Technologies is happy to announce its first capital improvement expenditure of 2021.

Starport Technologies has been making a transition from older SIMCO Static Neutralizing Blowers, to SJ-H Series bar type Ultra High-Speed Sensing Ionizers from Keyence during January of 2021. This new system will ensure Starport’s high speed RFID label and tag manufacturing processes remain as efficient as possible while eliminating static discharges that impact the RFID chip components. The new system provides high-speed, wide-range static elimination without direct air flow.

As a vital piece of quality assurance, specifically in the RFID converting industry, static elimination systems must be properly maintained and calibrated. Starport Technologies has always been at the leading edge of industry improvements and today we are pleased to announce the next step in this evolution. Sanders Roth, VP of Business Development, stated, “The application of RFID tags to an adhesive web prior to laminating can result in the generation of electrostatic charges high enough to destroy or weaken the chip in the tag. Failure to control these charges can result in field failures and loss of product and production. This new system will improve yield while maintaining our current production capacity.”

This KEYENCE static eliminator is the first to use an I.R.G. structure where the grounding plate, which is vital to the generation of ions, is incorporated into the ionizer unit. The generated ions flow toward the target (not the ground plate) in a loss-free manner, thereby increasing the amount of ions applied to the target.
